On Saturday 18th September as part of Big Green Week we reclaimed a street so children could play... We launched our Repair Café and mended 7 items to prevent going to landfill….We showed how you can grow your own vegetables in your balcony, garden or even allotment and gave seeds away for free!...We showed our thermal camera, so people can spot heat leakages in their home once the cold weather comes along... We had Dr Bike, fixing bikes for free...We had second-hand book stalls, vintage stalls, brick-a-brack stalls, vintage clothes stalls... The Climate Emergency Centre stall were showing alternative ways in which we can be more kind to our planet... and so much more

This was all organised in about 6 weeks as partnership between the Brisbane Road residents, keen to share their space, and Transition Town Ilford. A simple event that showed what is possible to achieve at a community level….And the community market stalls raised £274 for the local Food Bank!

Overall we were all delighted to have pulled off a fun packed event people came together to celebrate what's good about our local community and to demonstrate the shared concern about the way we live and our Planet.

Thanks to Big Green Week for the funding. And to the generosity and enthusiasm of the. Brisbane Road folk.
